Sanjiv currently serves as Managing Attorney of ILG founding the firm with the vision to offer entrepreneurs in technology and other industries, creative and cost effective legal services coupled with sound business advice tailored specifically to their needs and from the perspective of Sanjiv’s own experience as an entrepreneur. Sanjiv has over 28 years of broad-based business and legal experience in all areas of transactional law relevant to startup to fully mature hardware, software and internet centric technology companies with a particular focus on corporate, finance, securities, employment, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions and general business law.   He serves as outside general counsel to several of his clients. For the past 17 years, he has also served as a trusted business advisor to several Native American Tribal Nations in the U.S. and Canada.

Sanjiv has founded, funded and grown multiple technology and development focused companies.  His experience ranges from managing day to day legal and business operational and regulatory issues to negotiating, structuring and documenting complex finance, development, strategic partnership, and merger and acquisition transactions.  Sanjiv’s most recently co-founded a business in the pharmaceutical industry and serves as its General Counsel. Sanjiv has served as managing member, General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of Legend Venture Partners and Reliant Development Company, LLC both enterprises he co-founded for the purpose of assisting Native American Tribal Nations with their development initiatives.  Sanjiv was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of EGE, LLC a development and management company and ELV, Inc., a developer of resort enterprises. Additionally, Sanjiv served as Vice-President and Corporate Counsel of Connetics Corporation, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company. He was Of Counsel with the law firm of Manatt Phelps and Phillips LLP, Vice President of business development and General Counsel for two optical networking companies, Senior Associate with the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Associate with the Law Firm of Wise & Shepard, Senior Counsel with the Securities & Exchange Commission, and Chief of the Civil Division of the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Invited as a guest speaker to Hastings College of Law and to the Alameda County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Program, Sanjiv is also an active member of the California State Bar, American Bar Association and a Founding Member of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California. Sanjiv’s vast and varied hands on experience as both an attorney and entrepreneur uniquely positions him to provide innovative and tested business and legal solutions to ILG’s clients as both as corporate counsel and outside general counsel.

Born in India, the son of a Diplomat, Sanjiv lived in many European capital cities as a child. His family moved to San Francisco in 1973 and he has been proud to call the Bay Area his home for over four decades.

Rafael is a senior corporate and litigation attorney with ILG. He has practiced law for over 13 years focusing on corporate and commercial transactions, corporate formation and governance, finance, mergers and acquisition transactions, intellectual property (excluding patent prosecutions), litigation, and outside general counsel services. He has acted as legal counsel on preferred stock financings, asset sale acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations. His clients include companies based in the United States and overseas in industries such as computer technology (hardware and software), internet (consumer and B2B), mobile app development, media, and biotechnology.

Rafael is a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Section of the Alameda County Bar Association. He has also been a panelist on several continuing legal education seminars and has spoken to non-attorney audiences on startup financing and governance matters. Rafael enjoys cooking, travel, and spending time with his wife and son.

Rafael was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has lived in Asia, Australia, and Southern California before settling into the Bay Area in 2006.

Katya is an Of Counsel attorney with ILG.  She has practiced law for over 9 years focusing on emerging growth companies, venture capital, mergers, and acquisition transactions, joint ventures, corporate governance; and general corporate legal matters.

Katya assists businesses with the initial formation phase, financing needs, various capital raise rounds, and ultimately with any mergers, acquisitions and other business reorganizations. She also works with foreign companies that are looking to expand their operations to the U.S. Utilizing ILG’s broad network of professionals in the accounting, banking and immigration fields, she can help ensure a smooth transition to an otherwise potentially daunting market.

Katya has worked with companies ranging from startups to multi-million dollar revenue companies in various industries including industrial product manufacturers, software companies, consumer goods manufacturers, as well as companies in the service industry.

In addition to being an attorney, Katya also holds a degree in Finance and is thus able to understand and appreciate the financial and business nuances of any transaction ensuring that these concerns are properly addressed in each transaction.

Prior to ILG, Katya worked as in-house counsel for Goodyear Tire Company in Slovenia where her legal team was responsible for the corporate needs of 15 Central and South Eastern European countries. In addition, she has worked for law firms in Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area. With this broad range of experience, Katya understands what her clients’ needs are and prides herself on ensuring that they receive the support and results that they expect.

George has served as a trusted legal and business adviser to startup to mid stage technology clients for over 37 years. He assists ILG clients with the protection of their intellectual property portfolios by developing and implementing strategies to protect core corporate assets through the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent, copyright and trademark applications. George also assists clients with general business formation, various business transaction agreements and certain litigation matters.

Virender provides ILG clients with advice in all matters relating to immigration law. Virender has over 31 years of experience with immigration law including issues relevant to technology companies seeking to grow their employee resources with skilled and experienced people residing in countries outside of the U.S.   He has established an excellent working relationship with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials in the San Francisco Bay area USCIS offices and at USCIS Service Centers that process immigration applications. Virender has obtained visas for numerous researchers, scientists, business people, investors and other professionals. Virender has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1992. He has acted as AILA’s Northern California chapter liaison with the District Counsel of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).

Jennifer provides legal assistant support offering assistance to the firm attorneys and clients. Her professional journey has centered around her passion and promotion of education. Teaching both elementary and secondary levels in the classroom as well as training fellow educators Jennifer combined her love of education and sports and developed youth programs with the United States Tennis Association on a National basis.

During an evolution of interest towards business Jennifer co-founded a non-profit organization to help support young female athletes in their quest to compete on a national level. Stepping into the for profit world she served as Director of Development assisting franchise owners with business development. She has personally owned and operated a travel/education agency and is actively involved serving on the Board of Directors for 3 Bay Area non-profit educational organizations.

She claims her highest achievement has been as mother to three grown adult daughters and now enjoying her first grand daughter. Jennifer is applying her varied background assisting ILG attorneys as she continues to expand her own personal knowledge.

Jennifer is a native Californian having lived equally between Southern and Northern California.
